Tips for Acute Back Pain Relief
|
|
When it comes to back pain there are two types that most people suffer from.
Acute, which is a sudden onset of pain that is a severe sharp and intense
pain, and chronic, which is pain that is constant or continually recurring.
Both types are equally painful, annoying, and frustrating but there are ways
to successfully find both acute and chronic back pain relief. In this
article we will focus on relieving acute back pain until proper treatment
can be found.
Acute pain of any type is not fun, but when it's your back it can affect
everyday life. It can be brought on suddenly through an injury or another
chronic problem that was left untreated. Acute back pain is not something
that anyone can ignore and you will know when it hits. The best thing to do
for this type of pain is schedule a visit with your doctor for treatment.
But what do you do before you get into see the doctor? The help relieve your
back pain it is important to keep the curve of your spine as natural as
possible. A lumbar role should be used when sitting to help maintain proper
posture and try to keep from slouching. It is a good idea to try to keep
from sitting as much as possible and is you do only for brief periods. When
you do have to sit use a firm ergonomic chair and avoid furniture that makes
it hard to maintain proper posture such as couches and soft chairs.
Driving or riding in a car is also not a good idea. If you do need to drive
slide your seat back so that your arms are as straight as possible when
holding the steering wheel. This has the tendency to keep your upper body in
a more upright and comfortable position. That lumbar role you are using
around the house can also be used while driving or riding in a car as well.
It is also important not to lift anything while you are having acute back
pain as this can make the injury even worse. Also try and sleep on a firm
bed as a soft or saggy bed does not provide the proper support for the back
and you can also wear a supportive role around the waist while you sleep. As
odd as it may sound if you are suffering from a cough or sneezing try to
lean back if you have to do so, leaning forward can cause your pain to
worsen.
Probably the most important thing about gaining acute back pain relief is
giving your back time to heal. Doing too much activity to soon will simply
aggravate an already painful situation and add more time to the healing
process.
